Our Group

Our Environment

We are taking practical steps to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and to support the UK Government's commitment to reach net zero by 2050.

Our current actions

  • We are partnering with carbon specialists to improve the accuracy of our greenhouse gas data across Scopes 1, 2 and relevant Scope 3 categories. This helps us identify priority reduction opportunities and track progress over time.
  • We are implementing a phased plan to replace higher emission vehicles with lower emission alternatives, including hybrid and electric options, where operational needs allow.
  • Where practical, we purchase electricity on tariffs backed by Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin (REGO) certificates.
  • We are mapping our emissions across our value chain, with an initial focus on purchased goods and services, to understand where engagement could have the greatest impact.
  • We are continuing the replacement of lighting with lower energy alternatives and expanding the rollout of smart electricity and gas meters.
  • We have rolled out enhanced waste segregation across sites to support higher quality recycling and maintain ongoing compliance.
  • We offer an electric and hybrid car leasing scheme and continue to provide access to our Cycle to Work scheme.
  • We are developing products and services that can help customers improve the energy efficiency of their properties.

Dependencies and limitations

We recognise that the UK achieving net zero by 2050 will require collaboration with policymakers, government, suppliers, and customers. Many influencing factors lie outside of our direct control, and these external dependencies may affect or challenge progress.
